A Few Words And Pictures On The Sports' Day Held On 2nd April 2014

This year's theme for the Sports' Day was Youth Olympics.

The day began with the students lining up for the parade. The different teams or houses, as we call them here at St Andrew's School, represent the colours of our flag: red, blue, yellow and green.
There are four houses: Bishop house with the red colour, Laurent house with the blue colour, Otterbarry house with the yellow colour and Gregory house with the green colour.
The houses lined up at the centre of the field.
We sang the national anthem before the games started.
The rector Miss Floriane Laventure made her welcome speech.
This was followed by the guest's speech given by Miss Karen Foo Kune. You had the opportunity of meeting her in Nanjing.
A member of our group shared a few words on the city of Nanjing.
Miss Foo Kune was thanked for honouring us with her presence.
We took a few pictures with Miss Foo Kune with the flag of both our schools,

and that of both our countries.

Nanjinglele was also represented.
We also took a few with the teachers working with us on the twinning programme.

A guest performed some tai chi.

There was a musical show before the sports events began.
We hope you enjoy this post. Please leave your comments!!!

Mandarin Sega

We want to share a sega - the Mauritian music - sung by a Sino-Mauritian.

Dr. Mario Ng Kuet Leong, obstetrician-gynecologist by profession was a
guest performer at the 'Chinese Songs Contest' Finals organised by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation in December 2011.
This Mauritian Sega in Mandarin was presented for the first time in April 2011, in the context of a cultural exchange programme between China and Mauritius atJiaying University Meizhou China.

In Mauritius there is only a small percentage of Chinese who have come mostly from the Guandong province, from Meixian.

We hope you enjoy this and learn to dance to the music.

Flag Raising Ceremony

Today we had the flag raising ceremony at school to celebrate the 46th anniversary of our independence and the 22nd anniversary of the Republic.
Here are the words of our National Anthem we sang today:
Glory to thee, Motherland,Glory to thee, Motherland,
O motherland of mine.
Sweet is thy beauty,
Sweet is thy fragrance,
Around thee we gather
As one people,
As one nation,
In peace, justice and liberty.
Beloved country, may God bless thee
For ever and ever.
